I started making jesters & elves as a continuation of the circus theme from my paintings. I love using found and recycled materials. I boil the fabric to change the textures or wash the wools to felt them. Sometimes I dye the colors darker or bleach them out. Texture is so much fun to play with. It adds to the mood I want to create. I use yarn, broom bristles, feathers and all kinds of "things" to create hair on my dolls. Working with these "found" objects and looking at them in a different way lends to the unique whimsy I want my dolls to have. I have so much fun treasure hunting for just the right piece to finish a doll.
